Hi, My name is Maja.
I am a Young Naturalist, and won a Generation Green Award from the Vancouver Foundation. I am working on restoring Beaver Lake Bog in Stanley Park! The Stanley Park Ecology Society, and the Young Naturalists' Club of BC are helping me with this amazing project, and opportunity.
Some of you might be thinking, "A bog? Why would she restore a bog?"
Well, did you know that bogs are extremely important in our watershed, and ecosystem. They filter out many of the chemicals that can be harmful, and sometimes even deadly to people, and animals.
Along with removing invasive species, planting, and transplanting native species I will be updating this website. I hope you keep an eye on this site to see the new pictures, and captions.
Now I won't only be doing those things, I will be creating an ID card with some of the plants and animals that live in the bog. I will put a poster inside the nature house at The Stanley Park Ecology Society to help people identify the plants, and animals in Beaver Lake Bog. The final thing I am going to be doing is leading a walk for-kids-by-kids. I hope that this gave you an idea about what I am doing!
